Pierre Collard (Pyer) is a Brussels-based musician and designer working in music technologies. Having graduated as an industrial designer at ENSAV La Cambre (BE), he has applied his training to the specific question of the musical interface, across teaching tools, electronic instruments, and software.
He is working as UI and UX designer for VCV Rack (US) since 2021, and collaborates with hardware and software instrument makers including Black Noise (FR), Beatsurfing (BE), Crumar (IT), the Surge project, Voyage Audio (US), and other freelance developers. In 2018, he released Geodesics, a science-inspired software musical tool for VCV Rack, with Marc Boulé (CA).
A parallel interest in musical pedagogical tools has led him to illustrate user manuals and books on sound synthesis with Omri Cohen (DE), and to collaborate with Suzanne Ciani (US) and Serge Tcherepnin (FR) on educational content. He also teaches and lectures on modular synthesis and the history of randomness in Western musical composition within local communities.
As a musician, he is currently working on Archaïc Waves, exploring the rules of electricity and their melodic implications.
