Tom Jackson is a performer, composer, researcher and educator based in London. As a clarinet and saxophone specialist, he is largely dedicated to the fields of contemporary classical music & free improvisation. He maintains an extensive and eclectic performance schedule, tutors privately as well as in institutions and is an independent researcher. His compositions are published by June Emerson Wind Music and 360 Music and he is the recording artist for Schott’s Romantic Clarinet and Klezmer Clarinet series. In 2016 Tom received a PhD from Canterbury Christ Church University for work on free improvisation, the clarinet and relational aesthetics, which was completed with an AHRC scholarship. Alongside performing as principal clarinet with various orchestras, Tom has worked with myriad contemporary chamber groups such as Apartment House, Lontano, Plus-Minus, ChampdAction, Ictus and Splinter Cell.
